About the event
There is nothing better than a day on the farm. Whether you can stay for a couple of hours or all day, join us at 9am. We will meet in the garden and get to know each other - discuss the ways you might help a farmer with a project, and then enjoy the satisfaction of caring for the earth together.
Let us know if you can stay for lunch and we can make sandwiches in the Pavilion. After lunch, a farm tour can be provided at an additional fee ($5/hour/person) paid on-site upon departure.
All ages welcome as long as youngsters are coming with their adults. Call/text Sarah at 903-312-0717 if you have any questions.
9am - arrive, introductions, orientation, assignment of chores
9:30 am - work on the farm
11:30am - lunch (sandwiches, tea, and lemonade)
12:30pm - farm tour (optional - extra $5/hour/person fee)
Dress for the weather. No sandals. Bring work gloves if you have them.
Potential projects include:
- Creation of a food plot with grains to be milled for flour
- Weeding and planting in the vegetable garden
- Cleaning out eggmobiles, gathering eggs, and distributing chicken poop on the pasture
- Removal of invasive thistle and honeylocust on the pasture since we do not use chemicals
